Emigrated at the age of 19

Hjalmar emigrerade till USA, Idaho Falls, 1917 och gick då i fotspåren efter sina båda äldre syskon Nanny och Thure, som emigrerat från Sverige sex år tidigare.

 Hjalmar växte upp i Rydöbruk, dit familjen flyttat när Hjalmar var 4-5 år gammal. Pappan var bruksarbetare vid massa- och pappersbruket i Rydöbruk i Halland.

Hjalmar emigrated to the US, Idaho Falls, in 1917 and then followed the footsteps of his older siblings Nanny and Thure, who emigrated from Sweden six years before.

 Hjalmar grew up in Rydöbruk, where his familly had been living since he was 4-5 years old. His father was a worker at the mill of the pulp- and paper factory in Rydöbruk in Halland.

Första tiden i USA bodde Hjalmar vid New Sweden området i Idaho Falls, Idaho. Adressen var 140 North Arthur. Hjalmar arbetade en tid på tryckeri och flyttade så småningom till Kalifornien vid USA:s västkust.

At a printing works 

The first period in the USA Hjalmar lived in the New Sweden area in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The adress was 140 North Arthur. During a time Halmar worked at a printing works and eventually moved to California.
