Torpar-träff 5-8 Juli

2012 i Idaho, USA

Resa till USA. Släktmöte på ovanstående datum i Idaho Falls, Idaho, med både amerikanska och svenska deltagare.

• Upptäck vad som lockade de svenska emigranterna till "New Sweden" och skaffa dig en känsla för hur livet var på gårdarna.

• Följ med på en rundresa till var immigranterna bodde och arbetade.

• Besöken kommer också att omfatta det hus där Kristina (Andersson) och Andrew Beckman bodde, skolan i vilken immigranterna barn gick, en gammal kvarn, ett tidigt hotell och begravningsplatserna där våra släktingar är begravda.

• Se hur de svenska invandrarna satte sin prägel på jordbruket och bevattningssystemet i de östra delarna av Idaho.

• Promenera längs de gröna stråken utmed floden Snake River, besök historiska platser, eller finns "din" restaurang inom promenadavstånd från motellet eller där du bor.

• Och missa inte Crofter´s Cup i golf, och alla andra upplevelser från den "Vilda västern" som väntar på dig i Idaho.

Återknyt bekantskaper, träffa släktingar - både från Sverige och USA - vid välkomstmiddag och picnic. Dessa sammankomster kommer att ge tillfälle till att dela minnen och bilder. Ta med dig fotografier som du vill dela med dig av.

 Deltagare som kommer redan 4 Juli får då tillfälle att uppleva Självständighetsdagen, som den arrangeras i Idaho Falls.

 Bland aktiviteterna som planeras efter släktträffen finns en utflykt till Yellowstones nationalpark.

Crofter´s Reunion^*1

5-8th of July 2012

Join the Anderson and Beckman families at a USA Crofter’s Reunion July 5 – 8, 2012 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. 

• Discover what attracted our Swedish relatives to New Sweden and get a feel for what life was like “on the farm”. 

• Take a driving tour as we visit home sites and work places of family members who immigrated to the United States.

• Tour stops will also include the house where Kristina (Andersson) and Andrew Beckman lived, school which the immigrants’ children attended, an old mill, an early hotel site, and cemeteries where family members are buried. 

• See how Swedish immigrants shaped agriculture and irrigation in Eastern Idaho. 

• Walk along the Snake River Greenbelt, visit historic sites, or find a restaurant all within walking distance of the motel. 

• Not to be missed in the Crofter’s Cup Golf Tournament and many more experiences from the “Wild West” await you in Idaho.

Renew acquaintances and meet family members - both from Sweden and the USA - at a welcome dinner and picnic. These gatherings will provide a time for sharing memories and photos. Bring along photos you care to share.

 Folks arriving July 4^th can experience USA Independence Day activities in Idaho Falls.

 Post reunion activities include an excursion to Yellowstone Park.

Torparvecka i Åsenhöga

Släktmöte, utflykter i Småland, torpvandring, midsommarfirande mm.

Lördag 26 juni: Torpvandring.

Fredag 25 juni: Midsommarfirande.

2010-02-16: Hitta torpen på Google Earth

Har du Google Earth nedladdat på din dator kan du snabbt leta upp torpen i Åsenhöga genom söka via koordinaterna i Google Earth.

Gör så här:

1) Gå in på Google Earth

2) Markera någon av koordinaterna (57° osv...) för torpen här nedan med musen och kopiera koden:

För torpet Ramnåsen:

57° 28'6.86" N 13° 46'47.29" E

För torpet Hagen:

57°27'14.88" N 13°51'16.37" E

För torpet Bäckarydet:

57°26'42.49" N 13°50'16.24" E

3) Hoppa tillbaka till Google Earth och klistra in koden i rutan "Ta mig till... . Klicka sedan på förstoringsglaset till höger. Google Earth zoomar då in till torpet och du kan sedan med musen utforska omgivningarna.

Om du inte har programmet Google Earth nedladdat på din dator kan du gå till bilderna via din webbläsare, det är också lättare. Klicka här på: Torpen, så hittar du dem direkt i ett nytt fönster.

2010-02-16: Find the cottages at Google Earth

If you got Google Earth downloaded at your computer, you may easily find the cottages in Åsenhöga by using their coordinates in searches at Google Earth.

Do as follows:

1) Start your Google Earth

2) Mark any of the coordinates (57° osv...) of the cottages which here follows with the mouse and copy the line:

cottage Ramnåsen:

57° 28'6.86" N 13° 46'47.29" E

cottage Hagen:

57°27'14.88" N 13°51'16.37" E

cottage Bäckarydet:

57°26'42.49" N 13°50'16.24" E

3) Jump back to Google Earth and past the code in the square "Take me to... . Then click at the magnifying glass symbol at the right, and Google Earth will zoom down to the spot. Then you are able to explore the area and its surroundings with your computer mouse.

If you don´t have the program Google Earth on your computer you may find the pictures through your web browser. It´s much more easy also. Just click on: The Cottages, and your will find them directly in a new window.
